(CNN)It's not just you; the world really isgetting more miserable.

People worldwide are sadder, angrier andmore fearful than ever before, according to a major analysis of globalwell-being.

All three emotions rose to record levels in2018, for the second consecutive year, in Gallup's annual Global State ofEmotions report.

On the bright side, people reported aslight decline in stress, meaning that overall, the world remained exactly asmiserable as it was in 2017. Unfortunately, that also was a record year formisery.

In the most recent 12 months dominated bywar, political crises and humanitarian emergencies around the globe, Chad tookthe unwelcome honor of being the world's most negative country.

It was followed by Niger, Sierra Leone andIraq, while Latin American nations dominated on the positive side.

Gallup charted humanity's prolonged slumpby holding 151,000 interviews in 2018 with adults in more than 140 countries. It has measured emotions annually since 2006.

In 2018, about 4 in 10 people said theyexperienced a lot of worry the day before the interview, while a third saidthey were stressed and nearly 3 in 10 said they felt a lot of physical pain. Aquarter experienced sadness, and 22% were angry.

Chad's economy has been in a deep recessionsince a 2014 fall in oil prices, and living standards continue to fall in thecentral African nation; almost 6 million of its 15 million citizens live inextreme poverty.

"The country's overall score at leastpartly reflects the violence, displacement and the collapse of basic servicesin parts of Chad that have affected thousands of families," Gallup wrote.About 72% of people in the country said they struggled to afford food at some pointover the year.

Chadians were also unable to access theinternet for most of 2018 after their government shut it down.

The 10 most negative countries were:

1.Chad
2.Niger
3.Sierra Leone
4.Iraq
5.Iran

6.Benin
7.Liberia
8.Guinea
9.Palestinian Territories
10.Congo

The Central African Republic, which led themisery index in 2017, was not surveyed in the latest report.

People were also quizzed on positiveemotions, prompting some brighter news.

Globally, more than 7 in 10 people saidthey experienced enjoyment, felt well-rested, and smiled or laughed a lot onthe day before the survey, while 87% said they were treated with respect.

Paraguay regained the top spot as theworld's happiest and most positive country. It fought off close competitionfrom Panama, Guatemala, Mexico, El Salvador and Honduras -- despite suchnations having high levels of poverty and violence.

People in Latin America "may notalways rate their lives the best ... but they laugh, smile and experienceenjoyment like no one else in the world," Gallup global managing partnerJon Clifton wrote in the report.
Their high scores "at least partlyreflect the cultural tendency in the region to focus on life's positives,"the report added.

Indonesia, meanwhile, was the most positivenation outside of the Americas.

Scandinavian countries usually top lists ofthe world's happiest countries, with four -- Finland, Denmark, Norway andIceland -- coming out in front this year in the United Nations' World HappinessReport. Gallup's interview-led approach, however, has repeatedly found higherlevels of fulfillment in Latin America.

And while the world charted itsjoint-highest score for negativity in the report, it also tied with 2013, 2014and 2015 for record levels of positivity -- suggesting a rising inequality inpeople's emotions around the world.

1、Suck it, Dark Ages.

2、I think the internetis a major contributor to this. People get 24/7 streams of information designedto piss them off or to make them feel self conscious, because that's how youget clicks and sales.

3、They used to scarepeople to get them to tune in through the commercials. Now they hint atsomething to piss you off to get you to click the link.
I long for a more civilized era, when wejust use attractive people in skimpy outfits to drive behavior.

4、Headline Worldunhappier than ever before.
I was hoping to compare it to how unhappy2019 was compared to 1515, 1864, 1914, 1942 and 1968. Unfortunately the studyonly goes back to 2006

5、This news isbasically part of it trying to make us sadder lmao.

6、Only because thepress keeps publishing more sadder, angrier, harder clickbait than ever before.Write about some good stuff and see the mood change. People are idiots and areaffected by what the hear on the news. If it’s always negative, then that’s anegative spiral.

7、Sadder and angrier, while also safer and better off.

8、with all this propagandatrying to convince us that we have an endless list of reasons to be sad andangry, and not a single mention of anything else for decades upon decades --I'm truly baffled by this! Why are people so sad and angry?

9、This is an issuewith perceptions. Less crime then ever before, we live in the safest timeperiod that has ever existed, anyone can learn anything for free thanks to theinternet, world poverty is dropping years faster than anyone thought it would, more people have access to clean water, food and shelter than ever before...
But none of that will get you likes, clicksor ad revenue so why report it?

10、No its not. Now wejust have the internet as a medium to Express it.

11、As a Brazilian whohears people around me bitching all the time that puzzled me. But then I sawthat their list of happy Latino countries somehow is concentrated along CentralAmerica.

12、No shit. We'redestroying our biosphere, causing a mass extinction, dehumanizing each other, moving towards extremist ideologies, doubling down on vapid empty consumerism, and losing our optimism for the future.

13、The internet feelslike someone flicked on the all lights at a strip club.
All of a sudden everyone is looking aroundhorrified like “Oh god everything is gross!”

14、No. It isn't.
The West is sadder and angrier than everbefore. The rest of the World is doing much better than it used to barely twodecades ago.
I'm betting that this study didn'tinterview even a single Manchurian coal miner.

15、Ive heard in myphycology class its a mixture of social media, over population, and higherpoverty/harder to get to middle class.

16、World wide it'spretty much the best it's ever been. The internet rots people's minds

17、Bullshit. Peoplejust have more time to complain. Anyone who can afford internet to complainobviously isnt worried about food. STFU.

18、Lol doubt that, itsthe most peaceful time in history.

19、Not me! Im happy anddrunk most the time!

20、Information Ageleads to less ignorance. Less ignorance = less bliss.

21、Can confirm, this isthe saddest and angriest I’ve ever felt in my lifetime.

22、I'm glad I'm old.You young uns are screwed.
